The Pioneer of Steel Tongs
Heppenstall Europe, is an Italian excellence in the construction of handling and clamping systems, a worldwide reality recognized for its professionalism and technical experience of industrial construction’s branch in the steel industry and beyond.
Historical company with American roots but with an Italian heart and soul.
Born in Pittsburgh (USA), at the end of 800′ as a steelworks specializing in the production of forged steel on its production lines. In the boom of steel production in the early decades of the ‘900 Heppenstall introduced the real use of tongs in the steel industry.
Heppenstalls were used in almost all US steelworks. Heppenstall registered numerous patents and became the School of Tong of world reference. In all steel industries Heppenstall was synonymous of Tong for steelworks.
Over the years and with the strong industrial progress, which led to a remarkable development of the steel mills, in particular in Italy; in 1960, Heppenstall decided to move the company headquarters in Switzerland, while the production departments in the north-Italy with the first workshop in Osnago, with the aim of creating in Europe tools aimed at stapling and handling steel products in steel mills and ports: from here on it will take the name of “Heppenstall Europe” and shortly after it will become “Heppenstall Italy”.
In 1992 “Heppenstall Italia” was taken over by 50% by an Italian company, also a leader among the steel mills in the field of handling and clamping systems, the “Lario Impianti”, a company founded in 1980 in Olginate in the province of Lecco, by Armando Friburghi. A company that now boasts over 40 years of experience and knowledge of this branch.
In 2010 “Heppenstall Italy” It will be taken over completely by “Lario Impianti”, until becoming officially in 2018 “Heppenstall Europe” Thanks to the merger of “Heppenstall Italy” and “Lario Impianti”, two giants of the branch of heavy materials handling and pliers creation, which have given rise to a single company that today boasts the realization of thousands of plants and projects realized all over the world (Europe, North Africa, Brazil, French Guiana, China).
And it is thanks to this historical baggage that “Heppenstall Europe” can guarantee the right experience and professionalism to its customers.
